Ifhat Smith, a mother who brought to public attention her son’s treatment at school under the government’s “Prevent” (counter-terrorism) policy, has secured substantial damages, an apology and her legal costs from the Sunday Telegraph over its publication of false allegations that she was an extremist, a key figure in the Muslim Brotherhood and that her complaint about her son’s treatment was part of a “campaign of lies“.
