In what is considered by many commentators to be the most important privacy law decision of the decade, Carter-Ruck acted for the Claimant, “PJS” in his successful appeal to the Supreme Court. PJS succeeded in upholding an interim injunction restraining publication of his identity in proceedings for misuse of privacy, which had been granted earlier in the year. PJS v News Group Newspapers is the first case in which the Supreme Court has given judgment on an interim application for an injunction restraining breach of privacy.
The interim injunction is to continue until trial or further order. The Supreme Court Judgment can be found at here.
