Isabella has broad experience in media law advising high-profile and HNW/UHNW clients (private individuals and companies), on a range of reputation, risk management and privacy matters including defamation, data protection, breach of privacy, regulatory and employment disputes.

She also advises on the civil law aspects of cases involving criminal conduct such as blackmail, harassment and sexual offences. Isabella is also experienced at assisting clients who are based in the UK and internationally.

Isabella has assisted with claimant work in both pre and post publication matters in relation to national and international press enquiries and publications, including at the pre-action complaint and settlement stages. Opponents have included national newspapers, search engines, social networks and individuals. Her data privacy work includes assisting clients in asserting their rights under UK data protection legislation, whether via removal / rectification notices to publications and compliance databases or utilising online takedown tools. In recent cases, she has helped to secure the removal of publications, corrections or additions to inaccurate, irrelevant or out of date personal data and damages.

More broadly, Isabella has experience in reputation and privacy matters where it is necessary to commence formal legal proceedings via other avenues, such as sex / race discrimination, inheritance and employment cases. She also has experience dealing with internal / external appeal bodies and tribunals utilised by sports regulators.

Isabella has also always worked closely with other specialist agencies, including external PR and cyber security specialists, to ensure her clients achieve the very best outcome every time.

Prior to joining Carter-Ruck, Isabella trained and qualified at a leading private client firm in London, having worked alongside the reputation and privacy team there since September 2022.

Isabella read history at St Edmund Hall, University of Oxford where she completed her degree.   She then completed the GDL at the University of Law and the LPC at BPP University, attaining a Distinction in both.

Isabella has a particular interest and experience in reputation management strategies for medical practitioners, and specifically aesthetic surgeons and doctors.

  • Isabella organised and participated in a two-part webinar series run by Teoxane UK Limited for medical professionals entitled “Protecting Your Reputation”.
  • Assisting in securing the prompt removal of publications containing false allegations following a prolonged campaign of defamation by a bad faith actor, and assisting with media enquiries from national news outlets in relation to the same
  • Assisted in the favourable settlement of a race discrimination claim out of court, including the payment of substantial damages
  • Assisted in ceasing a campaign of blackmail and preventing the circulation of a defamatory publication as threatened
  • Successful takedown requests to review sites and publications, the successful removal / rectification of personal data from compliance databases and effectively securing the removal of private details from publicly available sources.
