She advises on defamation, misuse of private information and data protection claims. She is frequently instructed by those facing intrusive media enquiries and threatened with the publication of damaging allegations. This is in relation to print and broadcast media, and can involve national as well as international press enquiries. Her work regularly results in publishers and broadcasters deciding not to proceed, or reducing the seriousness of published allegations.
She also regularly advises broadcasters, editors and other publishers, pre-publication, working with the editorial team to mitigate the risk of a legal or regulatory complaint post-publication, without diluting the editorial integrity of the work.
Antonia is regularly instructed post publication, in relation to the national and regional press, broadcasters, as well as social media. She has secured numerous corrections and apologies, and early settlements for clients after making complaints about defamation, misuse of private information, data protection and copyright. Antonia also has extensive experience of taking claims to trial where early resolution is not possible. She regularly works alongside PR advisers where clients are facing sustained media pressure. Antonia regularly works with clients to secure the removal of damaging online content.
Antonia has a diverse client base including private individuals, politicians, high-profile professionals and other HNW individuals, celebrities and others in the public eye, as well as national and international charities.
As part of her commercial disputes practice Antonia has been involved in the successful resolution of mis-selling claims against financial institutions, multi-jurisdictional disputes, professional negligence claims, and other commercial disputes on behalf of private individuals.
Antonia joined Carter-Ruck as a trainee in 1999 and qualified as a solicitor in 2001 and as a Solicitor-Advocate in 2006. Antonia read Politics at Bristol University, and subsequently went to BPP Law School.
